Announcements

OCTA held a public workshop that provided information about the Commuter Bikeway Strategic Plan update and a forum for participants to share their ideas.

The workshop had various stations with boards and maps presenting photos and pertinent information.  Attendees were encouraged to make comments by writing comments on sticky notes and placing them on the boards and maps.

There were six stations:

  1. Station #1: The first station provided an overview of the project and its implementation.

  2. Station #2: The second station presented photos and information about standard bicycle facilities and support facilities.

  3. Station #3: The third station covered education, encouragement, and enforcement programs as well as innovative bicycle facilities, including bicycle boulevards.

  4. Station #4: The fourth station had a table with large maps of Orange County bikeways that participants could mark with sticky notes and dot stickers to identify improvement opportunities.

  5. Station #5: The fifth station had blank paper posted for attendees to record general ideas.

  6. Station #6: The final station allowed attendees to fill out a survey and comment card.

The next steps will involve finalizing the review of existing and planned bikeways, developing regional priorities for improving the bikeway system, and identifying funding sources that can be used to improve Orange County bikeways.  All of these next steps will benefit from the ideas provided at the workshop.
