INTRODUCTIONClackamas County Parks and Portland Parks and Recreation are working together to design and improve just over 2 miles of trail along the Springwater Corridor. The Boring/Springwater project has two major components. One is the development of a conceptual site plan for the Boring Station Trailhead. The second is the design and production of construction documents for the implementation of the currently unimproved section of the Springwater Trail in Clackamas County, between Rugg Road and Boring’s town center. Clackamas County has secured the services of Alta Planning + Design to lead the design efforts. Expanding upon the efforts of the Boring Station Trailhead Park Committee, a trailhead in Boring will provide access to the Springwater Trail. The county looks forward to continuing the design discussion with the public. The Springwater Corridor is a well established, regional amenity that serves the residents of the Portland Metropolitan areas. It provides a refreshing respite from urban and suburban environments, allowing equestrians, bicyclists, and pedestrians a quick escape into a natural setting, complemented with views of Mt. Hood, Johnson Creek, wooded areas, and numerous wetlands along its route. Ultimately the trail will provide connections both to downtown Portland and to the Pacific Crest Trail through Mt. Hood National Forest trails. AnnouncementsWhich park elements are of highest priority to you? Send us your top 3 priorities via the online comment form or download this questionnaire and mail your feedback to us. Voice your support for Clackamas County's improvements to the Springwater Corridor! Clackamas County is requesting $1,200,000 for the Springwater Corridor Improvement Project through the 2011-2013 Oregon Department of Transportation's (ODOT) Transportation Enhancement Program (TE). The Project will pave 2.21 miles of the Springwater Corridor from Rugg Road in Clackamas County to Dee Street in Boring, with a 10 to 12 foot wide multi-use pathway with soft shoulders for use by pedestrians, bicyclists and equestrians. Transportation Enhancement Public Comment Period, Aug. 1 - Sept. 15, 2008 ODOT is seeking comments on projects being considered for Transportation Enhancement (TE) funding. The comment period will be open from August 1 through September 15, 2008. Responses received during that period will help ODOT determine which projects advance to the TE Advisory Committee for final evaluation and selection, and will affect the committee’s scoring of those projects. All comments should be submitted through the internet survey. Please vote that you strongly support project # 12 - Clackamas County: Springwater Trail Extension (Rugg Road – Hwy 212 at Boring). A link to the survey site is posted on the ODOT Local Government Section web site at http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/HWY/LGS. The survey site is also accessible directly at Comment Survey . This survey site will serve as the method of gauging public support and concerns for TE projects competing in the 2008 funding cycle. Agencies, interest groups, and the general public may respond to support or oppose a specific project, or to indicate priorities among competing projects in various areas of the state. Participants will select a geographic area of the state, then indicate which project or projects they most strongly support or oppose. They can mark their main reasons for supporting or opposing a project, and enter additional comments below that. If they have interest in another area of the state, they can repeat the process for another geographic area. Those without access to the internet may contact the Transportation Enhancement Program Manager at (503) 986-3528 for a printed copy of the Comment/Response form. Update 10/6/08: Materials from public meeting #3 are available for download and review (see below). We would like to receive your input! Please send any comments or questions to Katie Dunhan at Clackamas County.
